Today I spent time painting with a precious 14 year old girl. We sing and laugh, tell jokes and create works of art.

Some days I just want to be a kid again.

Today I showed teenagers more about watercolor painting. They explored how to mix colors. Each of these colors came from two others. Their task was to match these swatches that I made for them.

Combinations - creating something new. Digging under the obvious to find what created the color that is obvious.

What is underneath your obvious? What made you into the person that you are?

Do you like what you have become? Can you delight in it?

I have to admit that at this very moment I am wrestling with discontent.

O.K. so today my creative task was a bit of a stretch, but I did groom the dog-and he is grateful.

The eggs that I opened were meaningful symbols to many. The bits of fabric became part of their story. They were used in centerpieces at the Convergence Womens Conference. The people at the table thought of many meanings for them. The "baskets" were great conversation starters.

As women came to the prepared space they added bits of their hearts. They wove hearts and hands with God. Together a woven community of women. I really had no idea how meaningful this would be to people. I am glad I was a part of it.

Four dozen eggs all emptied out. What will this mean to someone. What will the shells say. I am  empty, poured out and waiting. What will the yolks become? A souffle, a quiche or an omelette. So many possibilities.

so simple for me to make a nest- I just reach down to the ground and grab some grass and mold, shape and form it. The birds should be jealous. They have to work so hard, one blade of grass at a time. Does God look at us and wish things could be easier for us. Perhaps the bird enjoys making the nest. Maybe God delights in watching us carefully weave our daily lives one blade at a time.

Isn't this root great. It once brought life to a real tree. I found it this morning laying above the ground. Odd that it no longer can bring life or serve its original purpose. But in this new place it will bring such meaning to the weaving that will happen around it. People will be fascinated by it. Its purpose has changed and its dried out life is being adored.
I made a frame that will be a weaving of the fabrics that I cut last night. It will be part of a community weaving. 90 women will add fabrics as they contemplate the meaning of gathering together in spiritual fellowship.

My new puppet stage. The current show is cinderella, put on by my kids as a fundraiser for their school. The sets were so fun to build. http://nullparties.com

Tonight I cut strips of fabric. Bits of clothing and parts of life. They are to be woven together at a women's conference this weekend.
